Substitute Money (Scrip)

What is Scrip?

"Scrip" is a term that means "substitute money." Our Scrip program offers gift cards and certificates for many local and national retailers. The retailer agrees to sell the gift cards and certificates at a discounted rate. Blessed Sacrament in turn sells the certificate and cards to parishioners at face value. Parishioners can use Scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials.

Volunteers Needed

Please volunteer to help by selling Scrip during regular office hours. One shift is four hours. Volunteering even once per month would help.

If you are interested in getting started or volunteering, please contact scrip@bsplacrosse.org

THE ESSENTIALS AND HOW YOU CAN BENEFIT

Scrip is a fundraising organization utilizing gift cards to cover your everyday purchases. The retailers involved offer a rebate or a percentage that is used for the benefit of our church and our children’s education. It supports the budget of the church and the family. The rebate can be further divided or directed into areas of need to be explained below.  Recently the “ShopWithScrip” title was changed to RaiseRight”. The program has evolved from just physical cards to include electronic transfers or e-cards. Through your iPhone or internet connection the program helps save you at your place of purchase. So it is easier and faster than ever.

Here at BSP, we ask you to not order physical cards through the electronic service but to use our physical inventory for physical cards. It helps with accounting processes for our office.

Benefits to BSP Community

At Blessed Sacrament Parish the use of Raise Right can offer support for tuition costs of the Aquinas Catholic Schools education. The greater the involvement the greater the benefit. The whole community of BSP has embraced this effort to help others. Even people without children in Catholic schools participate to support other families and the parish.  It is a great multi-family, multi-generational effort for the future. Your rebate, on our order form, can be indicated to another family, or for the “Guardian Angel fund” to families in need determined by Athe CS office.  Non-members are also welcome to use RaiseRight to support their family, but instead of an “up to 100%” rebate to the family, we request that a portion be indicated for the parish.  It continues the support of the community offering the program. This is a volunteer-run program.  Its success comes from everyone. And if the budget of BSP is supported, that means less cost for the ACS system.

USING SCRIP

You purchase gift cards at full value, the retailer scans them for the purchase. If anything is left on the card it is there until you use the card again to its full value. RaiseRight sends a portion of the value, a rebate, back to our system to distribute according to our funding purpose. RaiseRight has 750+ vendors/brands with varying rebates to choose from. We shop every day, or so it seems. Raise Right has information on retailers’ specials, bonuses, and updates. They also have easy-to-follow directions and tutorials to get you started and keep you going.  Then in addition they have an 800 number to use to get answers to questions even the office needs to call for. They are extremely good at their job.

Besides physical cards, they have e-cards and reloadable cards. You sign up through “RaiseRight” and The BSP office.  Electronic services are tied to your bank account for immediate payment for purchases.  Our office has a “New Family Data” form and a specific BSP code to get you signed in to the scripware program, in “RaiseRight”.

Our office orders physical cards every week or two weeks, depending on the need for stock. We try to keep up with demand, but the demand changes through the seasons and holidays, and these days the economy too.  Gas and grocery are a top priority. If we don’t carry what you need and “RaiseRight” carries it we will “Special Order” your request. Just call or email us, hopefully a week earlier, or before Thursday of the week. The cards are delivered with our order on the following Monday or Tuesday.  Examples are motels, hotels, out-of-area businesses of restaurants, or merchandise. A destination can be paid towards tuition.

In the end, it is the Catholic education of children that drives our program today. But the Spiritual sharing and giving are so great too to bring us and our community closer and stronger!
